SCATTERED
Acts 2
"All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42-47 NLT)
We believe that, just as the early church, the family of God takes care of their own as needs arise. We do this by giving generously of our time, skills, and money to those in our community of faith, with the ultimate goal to be good family to one another, just as Jesus was good family to us and loved us even unto death.
Compassion
"When Jesus heard this, he told them, ‘Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.’” (Mark 2:17 NLT)
We believe that as God’s ongoing presence in the world, we are at our best when we care about the things God cares about. Following Jesus’ teachings, our church chooses to live simply so that we can give generously and serve compassionately those who are broken, suffering and oppressed.
In our city, we seek to show compassion by generously giving our time, skills, and money to those that need it most; those who are broken and suffering. We do this by partnering with organizations in the Olympia area that are doing a good work, focusing on poverty, foster care, and vulnerable families.
Global Justice
"Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10 NLT)
Justice is God’s language for shalom, peace, things made right, equality, fullness and the world operating as he intended. Jesus’ prayer “your Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven” speaks directly of that idea.
We believe Jesus calls his church to build a legacy as a compelling force for good in the world. Led by the Spirit, we are to be passionate about making disciples, relieving suffering, and fighting injustice, joining the God of the oppressed in living out the transforming message of the resurrected Jesus. We have been called to live this way both inside and outside our city. We believe we were created to live for something larger than ourselves.
Church Planting
“Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20 NLT)
We believe the Great Commission is fulfilled as churches are planted. We see the church in Antioch catch this vision in Acts 13 as they set apart Paul and Barnabas and commission them to plant churches, which had a far-reaching effect on both the church and the world. We see this pattern repeated throughout Paul’s epistles.
We want to be like the early church and have our DNA be a church-planting church. We want to to encourage, resource, facilitate, support and equip churches to plant churches that will plant churches.
